General Information
General advice for those new to touring abroad.
It can be very addictive – you will probably be back.
- Although all our tours contain daily rides of 160 miles plus, many of the routs are very twisty mountain roads where average speeds may only be 20 to 30 miles per hour.
- Most traffic police, although very forgiving of foreign bikers, are able to issue fixed fines for speeding. Respect the traffic laws of Spain.
- Our tours are designed to ease you into foreign touring. If you are not sure of anything on your tour our tour guide, Michael, he is there to help and guide you every mile of the way.
- OOLAH and BUENOS DIAS a friendly hello ALWAYS goes down well.
Points of guidance "YOU MUST"
Carry all documents relating to your bike, MOT where applicable, registration certificate, insurance documents don’t forget to advise your insurance company of the tour dates so they can place you on cover, a photo driving licence is also a must have, if you don't already have one make sure you obtain one from the DVLA before you embark on your tour. Finally know your tank range, although we carry a small reserve of petrol on every tour, remember to top up your tank at the start of every ride or as necessary – not every machine has the capasity to cover 180 miles on a full tank of petrol.
Riding gear
Bear in mind that you will be travelling on height mountain roads and the proximity to the Atlantic coast. Expect a wide variation in temperature (one day in June we rode from 17° C to 30° C). An over suit for rain is more or less obligatory, there is nothing worse than riding when wet through.
We cannot promise a rain free holiday, however we can promise great mountain roads, magnificent scenery
and good company.
Finally, make sure your bike is fully serviced, tyres have enough tread for 2,000 miles plus and you have: headlamp beam deflectors for European roads, first aid kit and reflective waist coat and remember you will be riding on the right-hand side of the road.
